CARIAD - Designing for Inclusion

Overview

At CARIAD, I supported internal DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives by designing a series of campaign posters and creating the visual identity for our DEI guild. These assets were utilized throughout the company to support cultural moments, promote inclusion, and foster a more inclusive and welcoming environment for employees of all backgrounds. While the projects were lightweight from a technical standpoint, they were rich in purpose and impact.

My Role

  • Designed posters for Black History Month, LGBTQ+ Pride, Juneteenth, Women’s History Month, and Asian American Heritage Month

  • Created the logo and branding for the internal DEI guild

  • Collaborated with ERGs, HR, and internal communications to align messaging

  • Advocated for inclusive, accessible design across visuals

Design Approach

  • Prioritized representation through imagery, color, and tone

  • Created high-contrast layouts for accessibility and screen readability

  • Consulted with employee communities to ensure cultural relevance and respect

  • Used type, color, and photography to reflect empowerment, celebration, and identity

Deliverables

1. Cultural Moment Posters
Each poster was designed to highlight and celebrate a cultural moment. The tone was bold, respectful, and inclusive, with language that educated and inspired participation.

2. DEI Guild Logo
The logo was designed to be approachable, flexible, and recognizable. It represented unity, openness, and forward progress, and was used on internal platforms, events, and swag.

Impact

  • Increased visibility and turnout for internal DEI events

  • Posters became evergreen templates reused by multiple departments

  • DEI guild branding was officially adopted company-wide

  • Helped normalize conversations around identity and inclusion
